How to Join
If anyone is interested in joining the Freelancers United, they can send a private message to Phill[FU] on the Archys Portal forums, or they may also talk to Phill in game about joining. Usually a new member will be accepted after being seen ingame by members of [FU]. By doing missions together, duelling, taking parts in FFAs together etc we can gauge on whether you have the right personality to join us. There are cases where this will be skipped, examples are if Phill deems new members already worthy of the clan, through previous interactions or through talking on the forums etc.

History on the GetOnIt / Australian Freelancers Server
Freelancers United was first established in Freelancer by Phill[FU] and [FU]Beyer_Garratt (later [FU]Bazza), on the GetOnIt server during the first two months of 2005. The clan as a whole has its' origins in the RTS game StarCraft, where it was manned by a gang of u8r1337 azns.
The clan originally started out attempting to remain neutral to all other clans. However the leaders generally leant towards petty crimes and thuggery, and the clan quickly developed to reflect that.
Long standing enemies of the clan include the Band of Brothers ([BoB]), Lambda Omega Three (<<,(_(.)_3>) and [Atreides]. The clan's relations with other criminals has always been in a constant flux. Clans such as the [Outlaws], [Phantoms], Bringers of Death ([BoD]), [Lighthouse], [DK], Base and System Services ([bass]), [Beowulf] and [Assasins], among many others, were swapping from hostile to friendly and back almost as often as Phill[FU] changed undies (about once per week).
At the time of conception Freelancers United claimed ownership of the Hamburg system, which has been its' spiritual home ever since. Another early conquest of note is the Tau-37 system; the war for which would result in the alliance with the Outcast Smugglers' Guild, the longest standing alliance in GOI history. Over time the space under the clan's control fluctuated with its strength. At one point the entire Rheinland house was under their control, whilst on the other hand they were left homeless after the Beowulf clan shot up everything, just to prove that they could.
During the twilight of the GOI/AF server [FU] all but disappeared. Lack of players in general on the server contributed to a downfall of many of the great GOI clans. In 2008, the then Australian Freelancers server was shut down and its' memberbase fractured.
Freelancer Universe
After the closure of the AF server, the players made the decision to move to the American server Freelancer Universe. Due to the fact only a handful of the original crew remained it was decided to set aside our differences and unite under one set of stripes, the Sentinels [SENT]. Under the Sentinels banner there were different wings, which reflected the inclination of its members. The Freelancers United lived on as one of these wings, along with the [DK] and Base and System Services [bass] wings.
Playing continued there for over 6 months, with the Sentinels amassing a respectable fleet of battleships and fighters, however due to various issues, including an unacceptable ping and general douchbaginess/failtasticability/cuntbaggery of the mostly American playerbase, the two remaining members of the [FU] wing decided to relocate to Arhy's server in July 2009, where they were established in record time and are now leading the return of the Freelancers United to its' previous glory.
